Who are we?

Youth Smilie-Link was founded by four very close friends: Rekik Woldemichael, Hiab Goitom, Jayden Lemogo-Kana, and Haben Gebretsadik, all 16 years old, and recently nominated for at the 2024 KYAC Youth Awards. We value a kinship of unity that refers more to a brotherly connection than to mere friendship. We dreamed and visioned to serve the community together, working with and empowering the youth in the community.

What We Do

Youth Smile-Link is a community-driven program created to empower and support youth ages 14-17, specifically high school students. The program runs at 4 different locations from 7-9pm. On Mondays we run at Victoria Hills Community Centre, Tuesdays, we're at Country Hills Community Centre, Wednesdays, Centreville-Chicopee Community Centre, and Thursdays, Kingsdale Communtiy Centre. The program offers engaging activities, volunteer/leadership opportunities, and fosters strong community connections. Our missions is to create a safe and positive envrionment where youth can learn, grow, and thrive together, "Building Leaders in Your Neigborhood".

Why We Do It

Youth Smile-Link began as more than just an idea. It was a shared vision between four brothers in leadership. After growing together through the Boys in Leadership program, we realized the need for something greater in our community. While existing programs made an impact, they were limited in space and reach. We wanted to bring more youth together, create more opportunities, and build something that went beyond one center.

With guidance from our mentors and a strong belief in our purpose, we brought Youth Smile-Link to life. From designing posters to applying for funding, every step was driven by our commitment to serve. Our events, including tournaments, innovation fairs, and social nights, reflect our goal to uplift, include, and support. We understand that something as small as a meal or a place to belong can make all the difference.

Youth Smile-Link is not just a program. It is a movement led by youth, for youth.

This Wouldn't Be Possible if it Weren't For
